5th May 2014

So much has happened here since my first post. Just some of the plants that have been the stars of late April and early May are:

TREES
Cercis ‘Avondale’
Staphylea colchica
Cornus ‘Eddie’s White Wonder’
Malus transitoria
Wisteria (see image below)

SHRUBS
Sophora macrophylla (see yellow flowers below)
Decumaria sinensis

PERENNIALS
Sisyrinchium ‘Blue Sky’
Euphorbia ‘Dixter’
Lathyrus aureau
Erythromium ‘Pagoda’
Anemone vestal
Geranium ‘Bill Wallis’
Stylophorum diphyllum

Lychnis splendens
Astrantia ‘Roma’

The garden changes from day to day. Early May sees the arrival of wisteria, camassia and apple blossom.

This month we have also welcomed Chris Bearshaw to the garden for the first of our The English Garden reader days. It was a great success and a good day was had by all. Keep an eye on our events page for the latest – don’t miss our musical evening on July 26th.

We continue to shoot in the garden every month in preparation for our practical series in The English Garden Magazine in 2015. Fingers crossed for perfect gardening weather this month.
